Yuba County Protest

Most Americans are peace-loving law-abiding citizens that work hard, mind their own business and love this country. However, the tyrannical government’s violation of their God-given rights during the Covid takeover will not be easily forgotten nor forgiven by these salt-of-the-earth folks.

Trust has been broken by government in the same fashion that a spouse violates the marriage vows with an affair.  If the marriage survives, it is never quite the same as before the infidelity. The same is true with this government’s affair with Covid and then abusing the population.

Citizens have a disdain and hatred of government waste, corruption and abuse of power. The Covid Nazi tactics have pissed people off. And they are looking for ways to express their fury.

This Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 8:30AM a demonstration will occur in front of the Yuba County Government Center, 8th and J Streets in Maryville at the South Facing main entrance. People are protesting the Board of Supervisors (BOS) illegally eliminating public access to their meetings for more than a year.

Participants will tap into the meeting from outdoors via cell phone Zoom technology to offer comments on a variety of agenda topics. Agenda Item 26 is to “discuss expanding public participation in BOS meetings to include in person participation and take action as appropriate.” Supervisors Andy Vasquez and Seth Fuhrer appear to be in favor of this move. They need a third vote.

Agenda Item 27 is to “Discuss Yuba Healthy Communities Resolution and consider whether additional actions are needed due to the State’s response to Covid-19.” Proponents of the resolution want local officials to protect the rights and lives of local citizens rather than acting lock-step with the governor in order to get his funding. Citizens want the Sheriff and the Supervisors to honor their oath to defend the Constitution and protect the community.

The local economy and school system have been wrecked by Supervisors, Councilmembers and School Boards. Politicians have engaged in double-speak telling businesses to open while county employee, Health Officer Phuong Luu has threatened owners and banned inside dining or work.

One example of this leadership chaos is Marysville’s longtime Chinese restaurant Dragon Inn. It has been repeatedly shut down by unscientific government mandates thus having to lose valuable trained staff and revenue. Still restricted to take-out orders, the owners called the Health Officer last week to again be told the eatery cannot open to inside dining.

What say the council members and supervisors? They are tongue-tied as one business after another fail. It is shameful. Some politicians say “Open up!” as the Health Officer with the power to arrest and fine says defiantly “Stay closed!” She needs to be instructed to stand down.

Agenda Item 29 is to “Adopt resolution in opposition of proposed regulatory changes to Syringe Exchange Program.” Health Officer Luu, again an employee of Yuba County, publically endorsed this state program initially without the authorization of the BOS. Under liberal leadership this approach to so-called “harm reduction” has rendered communities narcotic “shooting galleries” with syringes and bio-hazard waste strewn everywhere.

Poorly-managed needle exchange efforts increase harm both among addicts and local residents. The state gets a failing grade in its ability to run any programs and agencies. Now, it wants to ignore local jurisdictions and the will of the people altogether. Activists at the protest should commend the supervisors for this resolution of opposition to the state’s needle exchange plans.
